Dependant my fucking ass.
So I have been excited lately because I have been planning on goin to school again. I was really looking into trying to attend The Art Institute of Chicago. Well it turns out I have to wait another FUCKING YEAR before I can go. Why? because I'm not considered independant till I'm 24.
So I wrote this to the FAFSA people, they probably won't respond...
:"I am turning 23 this november I thought that was the age at which I would be considered an independant, I recently checked and found out that it is not until I'm 24....Why the fuck is that? I haven't lived or depended on my parents or family for anything finacially for at least 2 years! They make a substancially larger sum of money than I do but unfortunately not enough to help me with the outrageous college costs. When I go back I have to figure out how to pay for it on my own, so all the estimated family contribution bull shit isn't going to do me any good and is essentially goin to falsely represent my financial situation. Why should I have to be married before I'm considered an independant? A lot of younger married couples now a days live and depend almost fully on their parents, so what makes them special? Married? Whoopty-fuckin-do... Basically this is setting it up so I can't go back to school for at least another year, and that blows. I would go now but I can't afford it, so what are people in this sort of a situation supposed to do?"
To reiterate it's stupid that dupes who got married young, and chicks who get knocked up (no offense to them) get to be independant but I can't be. It's bullshit. I need to write a strongly worded letter to congress or something.
